1. ACC finds no trace of Putul’s Shuchona Foundation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid at the office address of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul’s Shuchona Foundation but could not find the existence of the organization. Later, the ACC conducted a raid at the National Board of Revenue to collect documents related to various financial irregularities, including tax exemptions, of the Shuchona Foundation. The ACC launched an investigation into allegations that she forcibly collected gifts from various social and business organizations by opening an organization called Shuchona Foundation and embezzled huge amounts of state money in fake projects using the ‘autistic cell’ under the Health Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The organization says that Putul used illegal influence on the NBR to make the foundation tax-free and force people to pay donations.

In addition, the ACC has written to the Health and Foreign Affairs Ministries to remove Saima Wazed Putul from the post of Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO). The organization believes that Putul was appointed to the position by abusing her mother’s power despite her lack of qualifications.

Earlier, on January 12, the ACC filed a case against Putul, her mother, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and 16 others, alleging that a 10-katha government plot was illegally allotted to Saima Wazed Putul in the Purbachal New City Project
